18 Team National Group

Thank you to all the athletes that have tried out for the National team.

The following will be the 18-National group:  Anderson, Cantoni, Clifford, Delucci, Dorosin, Fong, Harper, Jackson, Larko, Leclerc, Lesyna, Molano, Panconi, Santiago, Sendejas, Sheridan, Temple, Titinger, Tocchini

The Area and National coaches will continue to evaluate players every day to determine tournament teams including JO Qualifying rosters.

Starting June 11th, the 18-National team will train at SHP, Mon thru Thur,4:45-7:00 pm.  18-Area will train at Palo Alto HS, Tuesday thru Friday, 6:00-8:00 am.

 

Junior Olympic Availability – Due Mon, Memorial Day, May 28th.

Junior Olympics are our Age Group National Championships for the year.  We need every athlete to respond to the availability for Junior Olympics (JOs) and the qualifying by Mon, May 28th. Official entries are due 2 days later so we need time to review so we can enter as many teams as possible in JOs based on the RSVPs.  Stanford is the host of JOs so games will be located somewhere on the peninsula at any of the 20 pools secured for this event.

One question refers to the JO Qualifying weekend.  Respond yes/no based on your child’s competition division.  18s = 11 & 12th graders, 16s= 9 & 10th, 14s = 7 & 8th, 12s = 5 & 6th, 10s 4th /under grade.  It is the grade of this academic 11-12 year,  (what grade was she in on Feb 16th this year).

** Teams will be chosen by the coaching staff and rosters may change between the qualifying and the final JO teams.

16 National Workout

Thanks to all the athletes who came to the 16-National tryouts. Everyone did a great job and the coaches enjoyed watching you compete.

The following will be the 16-National group beginning tomorrow (6:15-8:30 at Stanford).
Acker, Anderson, Denney, Edgington, Flamen, Heilman, Keifer, Malysz, McCracken, Moore, Moran, Rosenthal, Steuwe, Strutner, van Hulsen, Williams, Wong, Yu, Zakula

The Area and National coaches will continue to evaluate players every day to determine tournament teams including JO Qualifying rosters. If moves between groups are necessary, coaches will make that decision and changes will take effect on June 11.

Summer schedule starts tomorrow.
Area Team 5:30-7:45 at Palo Alto HS
National Team 6:15-8:30 at Stanford

USA Water Polo Reminders

A few reminders on USA Water Polo for this summer season:

First, all athletes must be registered with USA Water Polo and listed as a member of Stanford Water Polo Foundation for 2012. You can register online and receive instant verification by going to the USA Water Polo website. Click on “Join USA Water Polo” (on the left in red). Stanford Water Polo is Club #570 and in the Pacific Zone.

Second, if you plan on competing at the Junior Olympics and any Championships you must have a Gold membership.

Third, everyone must also do the one-time Age Verification process ($5 fee). This is a new process starting with this year. Visit the Age Verification page to start.

16’s Cal Cup State Finals Roster

The following athletes will be on the roster for the Cal Cup State Finals. The tournament is June 1-3 in Davis. If your plans have changed since you filled out the availability form and you cannot attend, please contact Kyle immediately (kyle@stanfordwaterpolo.com) so that we can add another player to the roster.

Summer Water Polo Registration

Thanks everyone for their patience as we put together PayPal as an option for the first time. Reminder that the athletes & parent meeting is tonight 7:30pm at the Avery Aquatic Center, in the stands.

Groups are based on the grade you are in now, the 2011-12 academic year.

Team Gear

We will have some team gear available tonight at the meeting (7:30 in the stands at the Avery Aquatic Center).
Team suits, caps, pens & pins will be on hand. The deadline will be after the first week of workouts for the final order.

Order Form

For those buying caps, pens & pins only, no form is necessary.

Thank you for your patience with the registration form. It will be ready very soon.

Athletes will register at the May 3 meeting with no late penalty.

The registration deadline will be a postmark of Wednesday May 9. We cannot take hand delivery on that day because we’ll be off to the NCAA Championships in San Diego! Any delivery or postmark after May 9 will incur the $35 late registration fee.

May 3rd meeting at 7:30 will be at the Avery Aquatic Center, in the stands.
