Congratulations to all the high school players on a great season. Special shout out to club players from Los Gatos and Sacred Heart Prep for great performances Saturday to bring CCS championships to your schools! Leland and St Francis also deserve congratulations for making it to the most important game of the year, the CCS finals.
Have a great Thanksgiving and let’s get to work in winter polo!
With winter water polo beginning soon we need you to renew your USAWP membership now (please don’t wait). Our winter season goes into 2016 so we need everyone to renew preferably before you sign up for winter polo. We do not want to hold players out of workout after the holiday break in 2016.
3 last reminders in regards to USAWP:
1) Make sure you affiliated with Stanford WP Club.
2) If you are new or moving up the ranks, be sure you complete the 1 time age verification process.
3) You must be a Gold member to compete at JOs, which is held at Stanford & NorCal this summer.
USA Water Polo has an Academic All-American Program to recognize academic achievement for member athletes.
If you are interested, apply soon because the application deadline is Tuesday, July 21. You have until Friday, August 28 for an official transcript to be received from your high school.

2015 is the 20th year of the Stanford Girls Water Polo Club and we’re going to celebrate next month! Our reunion weekend will take place on Friday June 26 and Saturday June 27, and all the current club members will be involved.
Our summer tradition of club players doing reports on the USA National Team or players from international teams is taking a twist – we are going to do reports on our club alums!
Many of the alums have been in touch about the reunion and they are so excited to see their teammates and coaches – and play some polo as well. They can’t wait to hear from you and share their water polo stories and talk about their lives beyond the sport. These women are great role models and will inspire you as you think about your future in athletics, academics, and career.
Contact Coach Kyle (firstname.lastname@example.org) to be assigned an alum to contact, interview, and report on. Be sure to include your age. Kyle will give you the guidelines for the interview and contact info. All 2015 Cal Cup team members are required to participate in this activity.
If your alum is attending the reunion, there will be a brunch on Saturday June 27 for you to meet up with them before the alumni games!
Stanford is offering 3 Holiday Clinics for girls on December, 20, 2014. All clinics are at Stanford’s Avery Aquatic Center. Girls 13+ with 1 year of experience are welcome.
Athletes can sign up for all 3 or any number of clinics.
Session I – Position Skill Work & Technical Drills
Athletes will work on position based skills of their choice (2meters, defender, goalie, driver/attacker). Detailed focus on techniques that can be used with any program
Session 2 – Shooting & Scrimmage
The focus will be on perimeter shooting. Both the mechanics and accuracy of shooting. 2meter players will focus on shots from the center position. Session concludes with a scrimmage applying the techniques we have worked on earlier in the clinics.
Session 3 – Scrimmage & Team Tactics
Main focus will be on team oriented skills and applying the shooting and position skill work in a game like setting (scrimmage).
