Do you still play water polo?
Yes I play at Cal State East Bay.
When you play water polo is speed or technique more important to you?
Speed to me means a lot of things. People can have speed in how fast you swim, how fast you can react, make a decision, pass, shot, etc. Technique is also important – if you can do things correctly then you can do more. I think technique is more important because even if you are not the fastest one in the pool skill will put you above.
Are you left or right handed?
I’m left handed
What is your favorite part about playing water polo?
My favorite part about playing polo is creating great opportunities. Nothing feels better than having the ball go around (dry) and in to set for an ejection or similar situation.
Who is your favorite water polo player?
I don’t think I have one. Now that I’m coaching I love to see the girls I coach improve and fall in love with the sport – they are all my favorite.
What is the most helpful thing a Sanford coach told you?
Being early is on time and being on time is being late.
Don’t just stand around, do something.
If you want to fail at 6-5, don’t pass the ball.
How old were you when you stared playing water polo?
I started playing when I was 11 or 12.
Are you going to the reunion?
I coach the 16’s and we are going to be at JO Quals but I hope to be at some part of the reunion weekend.
What is your favorite color?
Red, the best teams wear red.
Favorites sport besides water polo?
I really like to watch basketball, I wish I could play because it looks like a lot of fun.
Who was your favorite coach when you were playing water polo for Stanford?
This is really hard because I now coach with most of the coaches who have coached me. I’m going to have to say Mark – he’s slightly too smart for his own good, but in a good way.

What is your favorite word?
My favorite words are “No morning practice”. I don’t hear it often but it’s great when I do.
Do you prefer Starbucks or Peet’s coffee?
I’m not a huge fan of coffee but Starbucks is probably where I would go.
Is your favorite part about coaching water polo?
Seeing my girls learn and fall in love with water polo. Water polo teaches a lot of things and I’m now learning from both sides.
What was your favorite subject in elementary school?
History. I loved learning about how people discovered places that were once nothing and are now known by the world.
What are you studying in college?
Industrial and Organizational Psychology (sounds fancier than it is)
Do you prefer hot dogs or hamburgers?
Hamburgers for sure
What is your favorite dessert?
I love ice cream, any and all flavors
Do you prefer breakfast ,lunch or dinner?
I like lunch because its acceptable to eat almost anything.
