Zoe Banks is representing the United States at the UANA Youth Pan American Championships this week. Zoe led the 16A team to 11th place at JO’s earlier this month. She is a sophomore at Gunn HS.
Team USA is undefeated and enters the quarterfinals as the tournament favorite on Tuesday. Keep up with the team’s games and results at usawaterpolo.com. Good luck, Zoe!
We will have an amazing gathering of Stanford club alums on Friday and Saturday. They are excited to see each other, and very eager to meet our current club players.
If you would like to support the reunion with a donation, you can do so on the Eventbrite page. Any amount will help us make this a fantastic event for our club and our honored alums!
** Current players and families should not use the RSVP link – it is for the club alums only.
Thank you in advance for your support of this event 20 years in the making!
There are now 26 alumni reports on the 20th Year Celebration & Reunion page – big thanks to all the alums and current players who have participated in this amazing project. Can’t wait to receive more!
These interviews are great for all players and parents to read. The alums are having a great time reading them as well. Everyone is excited for next weekend’s reunion!
We still have many young alums who we would like to assign to club girls. Junior Polo athletes are encouraged to participate! Email Kyle at kyle@stanfordwaterpolo.com to get involved.
Another batch of alumni interviews has been published. Keep them coming! Click the 20th Year Celebration and Reunion link above to find them.
Players who have not received an alum assignment need to contact Kyle right away. We have more alums to connect current players with! Help honor them by participating in this historic project.
Izzy Mandema connected with Kendall Preston. Kendall played and coached for Stanford.
Send info from your alumni interviews to kyle@stanfordwaterpolo.com and start working on your “poster” – a good size for these would be half a poster board, or 11×17 paper. You can deliver the posters to your coach at practice.
What team was your rival when you played for Stanford club?
We really had rivalries with a lot of teams, all of them good hearted though. It was less of a rivalry, and more of, we were very closely matched. I remember Diablo, Set, LA polo, and Commerce were some really fun games for us.
What’s your favorite memory of the club?
All of our travel trips like our bus trips (not sure if you all still do those) and our Canada trips were probably some of my best memories. JO’s is a blast too, but the other ones we were able to take part in were truly awesome.
We now have 50 current club girls assigned a club alum to connect with for the 20th year reunion alumni reports. We want EVERYONE playing summer polo to be involved!
My goal is to make 100 current player/alumni connections to celebrate our 20 years. All players who haven’t been assigned an alum should email me at kyle@stanfordwaterpolo.com to get a name and info on how to do this project.
If you have already received your alum assignment, I hope you’ve made a connection already. If you haven’t, get in touch with them soon!
The reunion is Friday/Saturday June 26-27. The alums are so excited to share their stories with you!
Check out this great article about Stanford Club alum Pippa Temple. She’s a key player for Princeton – come out and see her play this weekend!
2015 is the 20th year of the Stanford Girls Water Polo Club and we’re going to celebrate next month! Our reunion weekend will take place on Friday June 26 and Saturday June 27, and all the current club members will be involved.
Our summer tradition of club players doing reports on the USA National Team or players from international teams is taking a twist – we are going to do reports on our club alums!
Many of the alums have been in touch about the reunion and they are so excited to see their teammates and coaches – and play some polo as well. They can’t wait to hear from you and share their water polo stories and talk about their lives beyond the sport. These women are great role models and will inspire you as you think about your future in athletics, academics, and career.
Contact Coach Kyle (kyle@stanfordwaterpolo.com) to be assigned an alum to contact, interview, and report on. Be sure to include your age. Kyle will give you the guidelines for the interview and contact info.  All 2015 Cal Cup team members are required to participate in this activity.
If your alum is attending the reunion, there will be a brunch on Saturday June 27 for you to meet up with them before the alumni games!
