The USWP Age Group Development CampThree of our age group players were selected to attend the USWP Age Group Development Camp in December. The camp was held at the USA Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, where many of the country's Olympians live and prepare for Olympic and international competition. This year's camp featured 60 athletes (32 boys and 28 girls) from around the country. Stanford's Remy Champion, Natalie O'Farriell and Chad Cashin took part in the camp and impressed many of the coaches with their knowledge of the game and their skills. Past participants from our club include: Matt Bacolini (1999), Michael Hayes (1999), Molly Hayes (1999), Amy Gardner (1998), Ben Harlow (1998), Lindsey O'Farriell (1997) and Lindsey Bacolini (1997). Coaches who have attended as interns include Tracey McLachlan (1997), Mike Merwin (1998), Aaron Cavagnolo (1999) and Kristeena Schlosser (2000). Courtney Johnson was a staff coach in 2000. Kyle Utsumi became the first person to attend as an athlete (1986), an intern coach (1992), staff member (1996-99) and head coach (2000). Stanford head coach John Tanner, who recently served on his second Olympic Games coaching staff, also participated in the USWP Age Group Development Camp as an intern coach (1983) and staff member (1986). |
